Monday June 30th. An early start this morning arriving at the marina at 07:30. Even though the boat had already been “prepped” a couple of weeks earlier, it still took two hours to unload the car and find places for stores and frozen food. I took an early opportunity to get the solar panels out and tested direct input to the DELTA 1KW battery box and got a full charge quite quickly. Once all sorted, first call was the pumpout which was quickly executed, then departure. I needed to swap places with a boat hovering in the narrow entrance. He also wanted a pumpout. The water levels on the canal were down a little but unhurried progress reached our “favourite” mooring spot on the approaches to Braunston where I stopped for a rehydration and quick lunch. Temperatures today are forecast in the lower 30s - a lovely summer day. Moving on I stopped at Bridge 100 for the night. Normally it would be Nimrod Bridge, but the Napton Flight is locked overnight due to low water levels on the top pound, so no point in arriving at the bottom too early. Boat temperature 34 degrees this afternoon. Quite a few boats about today. I expect the Napton Flight will be busy tomorrow. It’s good not to be in a hurry. I’m aiming for Banbury on Friday latest.
