We got to the marina just after 8:00 am. Before we could go anywhere there were “jobs” to do, principally to de-winterise the boat. There had been a short maintenance visit two weeks previously when the water tank was flushed and filled but a few spot checks also regarding the anticipated BSS examination at the beginning of next month. It had been discovered then that the rear flue cover plate on the squirrel stove had fallen off due to a broken fixing stud. First job then was to fit a replacement so that we could get some heat in the boat. Then the wind generator, which had been stored over winter in the cabin, was replaced on the roof. Finally then we were able to leave with the aim of mooring above Hillmorton Locks for the night. That took an hour. The massive new housing development on the offside continues to grow.
