Leaving our mooring the true size of the embankment became apparent having left the shelter of the woods reaching open vistas. The Oughtrington services incl. pumpout were spotted with a sign saying "Sorry no water". Lymm was as busy as ever being a weekend. The canal is deep enough and wide enough to give a good speed on quite low revs and one can pass other boats with much more way on than on narrow canals without causing any disturbance, so Stockton Heath was soon reached. The book says that services are available north of the bridge 16, but presumably this means shops. Pat made a quick sortie to Sainsbury's Local there. Thorne Marine has services canalside which we have used before. Always preferable to doing a marina tour. The wind was getting quite strong on the exposed sections nearing Preston Brook, but the moorings before the junction are more sheltered
