Set off through the Tring Cutting with early morning sunshine breaking through the trees reflecting off the boat roof and making forward visibility almost impossible at times. At Cowroast we came up behind a boat already descending the lock and caught up with them (it turned out there were two) at the next. A broadbeam was in front of them. One of the two boats was one we had shared Marsworth with yesterday. The other a brand new traditional build looking absolutely beautiful inside the false sheets. As they were in no hurry they let us through first as were were faster. Below Northchurch the broadbeam gave up, so we speeded up somewhat and were soon in Berkhamsted. Below Gas Locks there was an unoccupied boat across the cut having had its bow mooring pin pulled out, so we rescued it before mooring ourselves.
