What a change (at least to start with). Blue skies, little thin high cloud, and the wind has dropped. We had an excellent road as well, all the locks in our favour and many with boats just exiting, so gates open, except Gailey where we had to wait. However, the clouds were bubbling up to produce some really dramatic CBs which gave up occasional showers of very heavy rain and hail in one case. Through it all though we made good time and have caught up with our timetable. It's good to be a little ahead if possible to deal with the odd unexpected. One boater remarked that "It's going to be busy today, because so few moved yesterday" and this was true. We had an opposite direction in the narrows and just as I was settling up for the rather obtuse angle into the Shroppie at Autherley Junction a boat emerged wanting to turn left. This evening we stop at Bridge 8, a quiet spot we used last year.
