The forecast rain appeared overnight and although the bulk had cleared we were left with occasional showers of very fine rain - the sort where you don't really recognize that it is raining until you find out that you are all wet through. Hillmorton was passed with the efficiency given with a larger crew for our part but the nearside bottom lock was out of action with a gate failure, so there was inevitably a bit of waiting around. We had made good time though with very little other traffic evident thus far, so stopped at Newbold for lunch. The wind at Brinklow was as before, so no problems there. Another cold day however. Here we are at the end of May having to be wrapped up to the nines and still feeling chilled through at the end of the day.
