Heavy rain overnight but soon the sky cleared and the sun came out. So instead of the threatened "dreadful day" we had a dry cruise to Abingdon, albeit with increasing wind. Iffley Locks and Sandford were staffed but Abingdon was on self service, a blow because I wanted a pumpout card. We moored on the Abingdon Gardens side which I would not normally recommend as it is very public being the playground of the local youth. We had two young lads sitting on the roof this afternoon. Would they expect us to invade their home? We had a wander around Abingdon. Found a very smart Wetherspoons (pint £2.35) and the pub opposite (Grapes pint £4). Feel sorry for the Grapes. Just can't compete. The Morris Dancers were having a big day, but we were disappointed that it was not market day. In spite of the general high winds we seem relatively sheltered where we are, probably why we chose the spot.
