We left Great Barford just before 8:00am and had a clear run through Great Barford and Roxton Locks, both in our favour and the last of the double mitred door locks. At Eaton Socon we had to wait for an opposite direction narrowboat "Mad Hatter". Then not much further to St Neots. We wanted to have a quick look round town so moored initially on the pontoon by the Priory Centre where we found a bin just up the ramp for rubbish disposal with just enough room for our half bag. A Waitrose is very nearby and a Cooperative food store just a little further on.
We then moved opposite to the Council 24 hour parkside mooring where we were joined later by one short term cruiser. This is a pleasant quiet spot with neat grass ideal for table and chairs and a few well scattered family groups picnicking. The pontoon in contrast seems to attract the kids who use it as a swimming platform.
