We passed Blakes Lock unattended to get back to the river and then set off for Pangbourne to return tomorrow. There is quite a flow on the river again needing extra power. At Mapledurham the weir causes all sorts of eddies and back currents making access to the lock layby tricky. A hire cruiser ahead got into trouble and a chap missed his footing and fell in. Emerged cold and wet, otherwise unscathed. We stopped at the top for water. There are good facilities there including pumpout. Plenty of room at Pangbourne.
