Yesterday was mostly spent fiddling about with the batteries and sitting out reading a book Pat had picked up for me. Detail about the batteries in now given in reply to a comment made by Bruce yesterday. We ran the engine until 6pm and got 99% (if you believe that) on the indicator. By 5.30am today it was 11.8v on load. No TV, but at least the fridge is OK. Overnight, the river level had also dropped an inch or so as judged by the list we found ourselved with in the morning.
So we started the engine early today and left later at 9.00, stopping for water above Abingdon Lock. It seemed an especially long ride up to Stanford Lock, but the flow on the river was in parts quite brisk, so not surprising really.
To our relief there were several opportunities for mooring above Osney Lock (Oxford) and we can leave the boat here for a few days on payment of a small charge much to our relief. Pat has to go home for a couple of days.
