The moorings at Willowtree were infested with thick weed patches. So come time to leave the plan was to haul the boat off in neutral to get the prop in the centre of the canal before powering up, then to reverse to the marina entrance to turn. The plan didn't really work because when we were ready to turn the prop was totally fouled and useless. Then the weed hatch plate was welded in place by congealed paint from the blacking and it took 20 mins to get it open. Thereafter a pleasant cruise back to base in warm sunshine, stopping at Cowley for lunch.
