Because of the recent dry weather severe restrictions have been placed on the use of the Tuel Lane lock, the deepest in the UK. For the last few days it has been completely closed. However, a change in the weather with thundery showers in the last day or two has allowed an easing of the total ban and now 4 boats per day in each direction can make passage. I am pleased to say that we had a phone call this morning to say that we can go through tomorrow. This meant leapfrogging our planned overnight at Hebden Bridge which we have now done. A pity in a way because Hebden Bridge looked interesting, however we should not miss the opportunity to pass this pinch point.
