Last night, Red Bull, tonight Barleston.
It rained heavily overnight and appeared to be improving this morning. Left at 7:30 to get the first passage through Harecastle Tunnel. No luck!. We were fourth to arrive, but told to breast up with the first boat by the tunnel keeper. Thus we were first through, but not until after waiting for 75 minutes for the opposite direction traffic which included a cygnet which one boater had shepherded through the tunnel in front of his boat, afraid to squash it. After pump-out and water at Etruria we rejoined the queue for the Stoke Locks and the rain set in. By Barleston and after many locking delays we had had enough and settled down for the night.
