Monday: Now well ahead of schedule (we are due only as far as Audlem today) we got off to a good start, and after the Addersley Locks and the first two of the Audlem flight, came to a halt behind another boat waiting for a hotel boat pair working downhill. No sign of the motor, but the butty was being bow hauled through by two young crewmen. A slow process indeed. We reached the bottom at about 1 pm and carried on as far as Burland on the Llangollen. Our ascent of the Hurleston locks was aided by the lock-keeper and two other BW manager looking types. The shop at Burland is now closed I am sorry to report, so tonight its emergency rations. We are well stocked. No problem.
